The Barrington Boar’s kitchen is run by Chef Alasdair Clifford who grew up locally & has over ten years experience working in Michelin-starred restaurants including Chez Bruce & The Glasshouse. 

We are proud to be featured in the Top 50 Gastropubs (#35), MICHELIN Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2023, Harden’s Guide & Trencherman’s Guide.

We are passionate about the provenance of our food & source the majority of our produce from the farmers, foragers, brewers & cheesemongers living within a few miles of the restaurant.

Our Menus

Our Lunch & Evening a la carte menus evolve with the seasons & are available during the week (Wed - Sun)

Our Set Menu (2 courses - £29, 3 courses - £34) is available at lunch (Wed - Sat) & dinner (Wed - Thurs)

Along side our a la carte menu on Friday & Saturday evening our Chef’s Menu (4 courses plus amuse bouche) is also available & features some of Alasdair’s favourite dishes from the week's a la carte menu.

We also offer Sunday Roasts which were recommended by The Times as one of their Best 30 places for a pub lunch in the UK & one of Britain’s best places for a Sunday Roast.

  • Longman’s Cheese

    Longman’s supply us with most of the dairy that we use in-house. Their farmhouse cheddar & salted butter are produced from their own herd of cows & they locally source their cream & milk. 

  • West Country Water Buffalo

    West Country Water Buffalo produces a variety of foods from their Somerset herd of water buffalo, including grass fed water buffalo meat, raw water buffalo milk and a beautiful mozzarella that we love using.

  • The Gamekeepers Larder

    We love working with this team, who supply us with locally-sourced award-winning wild sika venison from across Somerset and Dorset.

  • The Meat Men

    A brilliant butchers in Taunton run by Scott & Andy who have both been butchers since they were teenagers. They grew their business after the first lockdown from 2 men cutting & delivering a few orders a few days a week to now operating a busy wholesale business supplying other butchers & trade customers.

  • Pitney Farm Market Garden

    A 3.5 acre organic market garden, Pitney Farm Market Garden is run by Adam Beer and Rita Oldenbourg, who supply us with a beautiful home-reared range of organic meat, eggs and vegetables.

  • Forest Fungi

    Situated in the beautiful seaside town of Dawlish, Forest Fungi grows and prepared speciality mushrooms on site in their ‘shroom rooms’.

  • ‘The Truffle Guy’

    Our truffle supplier is a very secretive truffle hunter who hand delivers fresh Somerset truffles to us.

  • Your Organic Friend

    Steve supplies us with a selection of wonderful fruit & vegetables from his organic farm in Lopen under 4 miles away from us. He specialises in outstanding salad leaves which can be found on our menu. Working with Steve means our menu is dictated by the seasons.

  • Brown & Forrest Smokery

    Brown & Forrest Smokery is a small family run smokery based just under 4 miles from us. They produce the finest smoked eel & salmon as well as a whole range of delicious smoked foods including smoked chicken, duck, lamb & trout. Jesse, from Brown & Forrest Smokery, has been supportive & encouraging from day one & is a regular drinker in the pub.

  • Flying Fish

    Based in Cornwall, Flying Fish only buy from day boats run by responsible fishermen & deliver to us every night. We are passionate about sustainable produce, especially when it comes to fish, & their sustainability policies work hand in hand with our ethical choices in seafood to preserve our abundant oceans.

  • The Sausage Shed

    The Sausage Shed uses locally reared free-range pork to create award winning sausages. Based under 3 miles from the Boar in Isle Brewers we get all our sausages & other pork-based products from Ivan & his team.

  • Bonners of Ilminster

    Bonners are an award-winning butchers & members of the Q Guild. Located in Ilminster in the heart of South Somerset, Clinton & his team provide us with local meat, expertly butchered including his own reared beef.
